Edokpaigbe Earns Back-To-Back WCC Player of the Week Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – For the second time this season and in back-to-back weeks, Candy Edokpaigbe has been named West Coast Conference Player of the Week, announced by the league Monday morning.

Edokpaigbe led San Francisco in scoring in two wins last week over Lehigh and CSU Monterey Bay, averaging 19.5 points per game on an impressive 73.9 percent shooting.

Registering her fourth 20+ scoring performance of the season in the win over Lehigh on Tuesday, Nov. 25, Edokpaigbe scored a team-best 25 points and knocked down a career-high 11 field goals in 38 minutes of action. Playing 14 minutes against CSU Monterey Bay on Sunday, Nov. 30, she posted 14 points while only missing three shots, as she went six-for-nine from the field, with two three-pointers.

Throughout the two contests, she also added six total rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.

In seven games with the green and gold, Edokpaigbe continues to lead the program in multiple statistical categories, including total points (130), points per game (18.6), field goal percentage (.612), steals (11), and blocks (seven). She is also the lone player in the conference averaging figure scoring while shooting over 60 percent from the floor.

For San Francisco, this weekly award marks the third for the program and second for Edokpaigbe this season. Aina Cargol earned West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week on November 17.
