NEW YORK - Major League Soccer (MLS) announced today the top 45 invitees for the 2025 MLS College Showcase, which will take place from Dec. 10-13 in Mesa, Arizona.
The four-day talent evaluation event will give technical staff from MLS clubs an opportunity to scout top collegiate prospects in the nation ahead of the 2026 MLS SuperDraft, which will take place on Thursday, Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. ET.
For San Francisco, sophomores
David Raphael and
Brayden Beason were both invited to this year's Showcase. This marks the second straight year in which a student-athlete from San Francisco has been invited after
Reid Roberts earned an invitation in 2024.
Immediately making an impact upon his arrival, Raphael came to the Hilltop from Sacramento, Calif., via Port-au-Prince, Haiti. In his two years in the green and gold, Raphael has started in 31 of the 34 matches he has appeared in, collecting 12 goals, 6 assists, and 30 points to go along with 67 shots, 35 of which have been on goal. He also holds a career .522 shot on goal percentage, including five game-winning goals and a perfect 3-of-3 on penalty kicks. In his first year on the Hilltop, Raphael appeared in all 17 matches for USF, finishing second on the team with four goals and two assists, as well as 10 points, 24 shots, and 14 shots on goal. He scored his first game-winning goal on Sept. 29, 2024, in a 2-0 win over Pacific. For these efforts, he was named to the All-West Coast Conference (WCC) Second Team, as well as earning a spot on the All-WCC Freshman Team. This season, Raphael broke out even more, leading the team and finishing tied for fifth in the conference with eight goals. He also led the team in points (20), shots (43), and shots on goal (21), while tying for the team lead in assists (4). Following the conclusion of this season, he was named to the All-WCC First Team.
Beason has also been a force to be reckoned with since setting foot on campus last fall. Similar to Raphael, Beason has started in 27 of the 32 matches he has appeared in for San Francisco, tallying 12 goals, 2 assists, and 26 points to go along with 66 shots, 29 of which have been on goal. He holds a career .439 shot percentage, including three game-winning goals. In his first year in the green and gold, Beason led the team while tying for seventh in the WCC with five goals as a freshman. The dynamic forward added one assist to finish with 11 points, tallying 28 shots in total, with 13 coming on frame. He recorded his first game-winning goal in USF's 3-2 win at Saint Mary's on Nov. 9, 2024. For these efforts, he was named to the All-WCC Freshman Team alongside Raphael.  This fall, he continued to dominate, finishing right behind Raphael with seven goals, one assist, and 15 points. His 38 shots, 16 being on goal, also ranked second on the team and in the top ten in the conference. Following this season, he earned a spot on the All-WCC First Team.
The eligible player list for the 2026 MLS SuperDraft will be announced at a later date following the 2025 MLS College Showcase.
