Tigers Earn Come-From-Behind Victory Over Dons

STOCKTON, Calif. - The University of San Francisco baseball team (16-22, 5-9 WCC) dropped the second game of its three-game set at Pacific (14-25, 3-8 WCC), falling 8-6 Friday evening at Klein Family Field.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

  • After two scoreless innings, San Francisco struck first in the top of the third as Kenny DeCelle ripped a two-RBI double down the right-field line, scoring Patrick Keighran and Jordan Lewis to take a 2-0 lead.
  • Cutting into its deficit in the following frame, Braeden Schnabel scored on a John-Howard Bobo sacrifice fly to get within 2-1.
  • Extending the lead with runs in the fifth and sixth innings, Keighran connected on a long solo home run and later earned a bases-loaded walk to put the Dons up 4-1.
  • Pacific responded and tied the game in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring two runs to level the game at four.
  • Keighran regained the lead for the Dons in the top of the ninth with his second home run of the game, a solo shot, for a 5-4 advantage. Eddison Esquivel added an RBI double later, plating DeCelle and giving the green and gold an insurance run for a 6-4 lead.
  • In the final half frame, Pacific quickly loaded the bases before Jake Tandy hit a walk-off grand slam to give the Tigers an 8-6 victory.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

  • In his second game after missing the last two weeks, Keighran led the Dons offensively with a three-for-three performance at the plate, posted two home runs, three RBI, and walked twice.
  • DeCelle and Esquivel also recorded multi-hit games, combining for four hits, three RBI, and one run scored.
  • Lance Santerre earned the start on the mound as he pitched three solid innings, allowing just five hits and struck out one batter.
