SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Overcoming an early deficit in its final midweek game of the season, the University of San Francisco baseball team (21-28 defeated UC Davis (22-26) 10-3 Tuesday afternoon at Benedetti Diamond.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- UC Davis opened the scoring in the top of the first inning, plating two runs to take a 2-0 lead. Houston Hirschkorn supplied the Aggies with the spark, recording a two-RBI single after Riley Acosta and Mark Wolbert earned back-to-back walks.
- The Aggies added another run in the fourth on a Tyler Howard RBI single to left field, plating Evert Johnson for a 3-0 advantage.
- San Francisco broke through in the bottom of the fifth, as Eddison Esquivel recorded a grand slam to put the green and gold up 4-3. Logan Schweizer singled to lead off the frame, while Jordan Lewis and Kenny DeCelle walked to load the bases for Esquivel.
- After holding the Aggies scoreless in the top of the sixth, the Dons exploded for five runs, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Patrick Keighran, pushing the margin to 9-3.
- Brendan Burke added an RBI infield single in the eighth to solidify the scoring for the green and gold at 10-3.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Six players recorded multi-hit games, led by three-hit performances by Keighran and Burke. Combining for six hits in 10 at-bats, the duo also posted two RBI apiece to help guide the Dons offensively.
- Esquivel registered his 10th home run of the season, his second grand slam, to supply the Dons with their first lead. He totaled four or more RBIs for the fifth time this season and increased his season total to 43.
- Cal Amborn earned the win, his first of the campaign, pitching 1.2 innings out of the bullpen, allowing one hit, three walks, and struck out one batter.
- As a team, San Francisco accumulated 16 hits, tied for the second most by the program this season.

San Francisco concludes the West Coast Conference slate when it hosts Portland in a three-game series beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9 at Benedetti Diamond.
