San Francisco Falls Short to California Baptist

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco baseball team (5-4) fell to California Baptist (9-2) 7-1 in the second game of the four-game series Friday afternoon at Benedetti Diamond.
 
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

  • Following seven runs scored by California Baptist in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings, San Francisco scored its lone run to cut the deficit to 7-1. Jackson Nystrom punched a two-out RBI single to center field, scoring Trevor Harmon, who reached earlier with a pinch-hit double.  
  • Neither team scored in the final three frames as the Lancers earned the six-run victory in the second game of the series.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
  • Six players recorded a hit for the green and gold throughout the contest, with Nystrom going one-for-three at the plate and recording the team's lone RBI.
  • Harmon went one-for-one at the plate, scored a run, and was hit by a pitch.
  • Tino Vasell, in his first-career game in the lead-off spot, registered one hit and one walk in three at-bats.
  • Wesley Harwell and Braden Wellen pitched the final three frames for the Dons, allowing one hit, two walks, and combining for three strikeouts.
