Garrison Registers Walk-Off Blast, Baseball Secures Series Win Over Seattle U

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Jayden Garrison recorded a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the 10th inning as the University of San Francisco baseball team (14-11, 5-0) completed the come-from-behind 6-5 victory over Seattle U (6-16, 2-3) Saturday afternoon at Benedetti Diamond.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

  • Seattle U gained its first lead of the series in the opening frame, jumping ahead 1-0, on a Royce Hale RBI single.
  • Tyler Harries responded for San Francisco in the bottom of the third inning as he recorded a solo home run over the left-center field wall to tie the game at one.
  • The tie was broken by the Redhawks in the fourth and gained a two-run advantage in the top of the seventh at 3-1.
  • The Dons answered in the home half of the sixth when TJ Rogers sent a first-pitch home run to right center to get to within 3-2.
  • After Seattle U added to its lead for a 4-2 advantage, San Francisco scored three times in the bottom of the eighth inning to take its first lead of the afternoon at 5-4. Garrison, Harries, and Jared Lewis posted an RBI throughout the rally, highlighted by Harries and Lewis reaching on bases-loaded hit-by-pitches.
  • Following a run for the Redhawks to tie the contest at five in the top of the ninth, Garrison launched a home run over the left-field wall with one out in the bottom of the 10th to give the green and gold a 6-5 walk-off victory.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
  • Garrison paced San Francisco offensively, going two-for-three at the plate with a home run, two RBI, two walks, and two runs scored.
  • Along with Garrison's long ball, Rogers and Harries also registered one home run apiece, giving the green and gold its first three-homer game of the season. Rogers posted his team-leading sixth home run, ranking tied for fifth in the WCC.
  • Gauge Lockhart pitched well in four innings of work, allowing two runs on four hits and recording five strikeouts.
  • Despite his first blown save of the season, Nick Bacura earned the win on the mound, allowing one run on one hit and striking out two batters in two innings.
