Rogers' Offensive Performance Leads San Francisco to Series Sweep of Seattle U

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco baseball team (15-11, 6-0) completed the series sweep over Seattle U (6-17, 2-4) with an 8-5 victory on Sunday at Benedetti Diamond.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- Seattle U jumped out on top on the first pitch of the afternoon when Payton Knowles recorded a solo home run in the top of the first inning for a 1-0 lead.
- TJ Rogers tied the game at one in the bottom of the second with a solo home run, his second of the series. Brendan Burke gave San Francisco a 2-1 lead shortly after, plating Trevor Harmon on an RBI groundout to shortstop.
- The Dons added to their lead in the following frame, recording two runs for a 4-1 advantage. Eddison Esquivel totaled an RBI single and later scored on a bases-loaded catcher's interference later in the inning.
- The Redhawks trimmed their deficit at the top of the fourth, scored twice to get within one run, 4-3.
- Jackson Nystrom provided the green and gold with insurance in the fifth with a two-out RBI double, and Harmon added a two-run single in the seventh for a commanding 7-3 lead.
- After Seattle U cut San Francisco's lead to 7-5, Isaiah Landry lined a solo home run over the left-field wall in the bottom of the eighth inning to push the advantage to 8-5.
- Kai Yovanovich pitched a clean ninth inning to solidify the win and series for the Dons.
- Rogers reached base safely in all five of his plate appearances while going three-for-three at the plate with a home run, double, two walks, an RBI, and three runs scored.
- Harmon, Landry, Nystrom, and Esquivel recorded two hits apiece and combined for five RBI, four extra-base hits, and four runs scored.
- Landry went two-for-four at the plate, with a double and a home run, his first as a member of the green and gold.
- Adrian Valdez earned the start on the mound and pitched 4.0 innings, allowing just one earned run on three hits, and struck out two batters.
- Hunter Holzemer picked up his third win of the season, pitching one frame, allowing two hits, and recording one strikeout.
- Quentin Pohorski led all pitchers in strikeouts, recording a season-best five in 3.0 innings of work.
- Yovanovitch registered his first save of the season, pitching a scoreless ninth inning and recording two strikeouts.
