Barrett Shines as Dons Fall Late to Lions in Series Opener

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The University of San Francisco baseball team (15-12, 6-1) dropped its first West Coast Conference game of the season, falling at LMU (9-23, 1-6) 12-10 in the series opener Thursday evening at Page Stadium.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

  • San Francisco scored in six of the nine innings throughout the game, highlighted by a four-run third inning to push the lead to 6-0.
  • Leading 9-0, the green and gold surrendered eight unanswered runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, as LMU climbed to within 9-8.
  • After the Dons added a run in the top of the eighth, the Lions scored four runs shortly after to take a 12-10 lead.
  • The Lions held scoreless in the final frame to earn the come-from-behind victory.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
  • Gabriel Barrett pitched six scoreless innings, earning his third quality start of the season. Allowing just four hits and two walks, Barrett totaled a career-best 10 strikeouts, reaching double-digit strikeouts in a game for the first time in his four-year career.
  • Following a performance against Seattle U that earned him Rawlings West Coast Conference Co-Freshman of the Week, Jayden Garrison went three-for-four at the plate with two doubles, his third home run of the season, one walk, and three RBI.
  • TJ Rogers also found success with the long ball, recording his eighth of the season while going one-for-five at the plate.
  • Eddison Esquivel, Trevor Harmon, Zack Ramppen, and Jackson Nystrom also recorded multi-hit games while combining for six RBI.
