Biography

CAREER: Four year letter winner played in 106 career games making 33 starts...averaged 2.1 points in his career and 2.3 rebounds...shot 38.9 percent from the field (88-for-226) and 28.9 percent from 3-point range (26-for-90)...had his best season as a senior where he scored a career-best 143 points in 25 games including 23 starts...shot 40.8 percent from the field that season and was instrumental in the Dons' huge upset over No. 4 Virginia early in the year...a tremendous defender, the 6-foot, 9-inch and 210 pound forward/center routinely defended the opponents top backcourt threat. In USF's huge win over BYU on January 25, 2020 Jurtaktamm was charged with keeping the Cougar's all-conference threat Yoeli Childs in check. Childs finished with just nine points as the Dons went on to win 83-82.

2020-21 (SENIOR): Played in 25 games making 23 starts...the 23 games started is a career best...logged 645 minutes averaging 25.8 minutes per contest...put up career-highs in every offensive statistical category including points (143), points per game (5.7), field goals (51), and 3-point field goals (23)...came up huge in the Dons win over No. 4 Virginia early in the season, finished with eight points and five rebounds against the Cavaliers...scored a career-high 15 points in the Dons loss at Oregon, scored 10 of the Dons' first 15 points against the Ducks...tallied back-to-back contests with 11 rebounds vs. Santa Clara on Jan. 21 and against the Gaels on Jan. 23...scored 11 points in the Dons first round matchup against San Diego in the WCC Tournament, also had five rebounds in that game. 

2019-20 (JUNIOR): Played in 24 games making three starts…played in 325 minutes averaging a career-best 13.5 minutes per contest…finished with 27 points on the year, averaging 1.1 points per contest…grabbed 58 rebounds, averaging 2.4 rebounds per game…had 10 blocks and seven steals on the year…made his first start of the season against UC Davis on Dec. 21…the Dons were 2-1 with Taavi in the starting lineup this season…grabbed a career-best eight rebounds in the win over LMU on Jan. 18…played a season-high 23 minutes against No. 2 Gonzaga on Feb. 1 finished with seven rebounds, three assists and four points in that contest.

2018-19 (SOPHOMORE):  Played in 26 games all off the bench for the Dons in his sophomore season...played in 191 minutes, averaging 7.3 minutes per contest...was 8-for-19 from the floor for a 42.1 field goal percentage...averaged 1.4 rebounds per game, grabbing 36 on the year...scored 17 points on the year which his season-high of five points coming against LMU in the regular season finale was 2-for-2 from the field and 1-for-2 from the three throw line in eight minutes of action in that contest...played a season-high 22 minutes in the win over Pepperdine on Feb. 14...was the unsung hero in the Dons win over BYU at home, grabbed a season-high six rebounds in that contest. 

2017-18 (FRESHMAN):  Appeared in 31 games making seven starts in his freshman campaign...played in 349 minutes on the year, averaging 11.3 minutes per contest...scored 40 points on the season, averaging 1.3 points per game while grabbing 1.9 rebounds per contest...shot 39.1 percent from the field going 18-for-46...of his 59 rebounds on the year, 20 came on the offensive side of the ball...made his USF debut on Nov. 10 against Long Beach State...played a season-high 26 minutes against Stanford on Dec. 17, scored two points and grabbed two rebounds against the Cardinal...made his first career start against Duquesne on Dec. 22 where he scored a season-high eight points.

HIGH SCHOOL AND PERSONAL: Comes to USF by way of Audentes Sports Gymnasium in Tallinn, Estonia… was named the U-18 Estonia National Player of the Year in 2016 and represented his country in the U-18 and U-20 FIBA Championships…he averaged 10 points and 3.5 rebounds in 20.8 minutes of action in the U-20 FIBA Championships…his youth team also won the U-18 Estonian Championship and finished second in the U-19 tournament...he also averaged 13.5 points and 7.1 rebounds a game for Noorteliliga in the Korvpalli Meistriliiga (KML)...his parents are Veiko and Ulli Jurkatamm, he has two siblings Kristella (21) and Mikk (16)…his father played basketball professionally in Estonia…hobbies include soccer, playing PlayStation and watching movies.
