Jack Rydquist Headshot Updated

Jack Rydquist

Jack Rydquist enters his fifth season with the University of San Francisco after joining the program in the fall of 2021. Rydquist was elevated to his current role of Director of Strategy & Analytics prior to the 2025-26 season.

Since Rydquist’s arrival on the Hilltop, USF has amassed a record of 92-45 (.672) - an average of 23.0 wins per season. Rydquist has helped San Francisco earn multiple postseason berths, including an at-large bid to the 2022 NCAA Tournament and back-to-back invitations to the NIT in 2024 & 2025. USF has had eight All-WCC First Team selections in the past four seasons, including two Dons who have gone on to play in the NBA - Jamaree Bouyea & Jonathan Mogbo. In February 2023, Bouyea became the first USF alum to play in an NBA game since 1995. In June 2024, Mogbo became the school’s first NBA draft pick since 1982 (31st overall, Toronto Raptors).

Since 2022, Rydquist has overseen USF’s analytical efforts for head coach Chris Gerlufsen, influencing key areas such as roster construction, opponent scouting, and in-game strategy. In the 2023 offseason, San Francisco’s recruiting class received a ranking of 25th nationally in overall transfer activity (via EvanMiya.com). That USF team would go on to earn the program’s first Big East win since 2013, its first Big Ten win since 2004, and its first SEC win since 1981. The following year, the Dons would finish with 25 victories - tied for the fourth-best win total in program history.

In addition to his main responsibilities with analytics, Rydquist assists with player development, multimedia production, and non-conference scheduling. He also acts as the program’s liaison to other departments within USF athletics. Additionally, Rydquist has served as the director of USF Basketball Camps since 2022.

Before the Hilltop, Rydquist spent two winning seasons as a graduate manager at the University of Hawai’i under head coach Eran Ganot. In this role, Rydquist was in charge of video operations for the Rainbow Warriors and ran UH’s analytics department.

Before Hawai’i, Rydquist spent four seasons as a student manager at San Diego State. While at SDSU, he helped the Aztecs earn two Mountain West Conference championships and a trip to the 2018 NCAA Tournament. As a manager, he assisted in the development of four players who would later play in the NBA: Malachi Flynn, Jalen McDaniels, Jordan Schakel, and Nathan Mensah.

Rydquist has had the distinct privilege of working under three Final Four head coaches: Todd Golden (‘25 Champion), Brian Dutcher (‘23 Runner-up), and Steve Fisher (‘89 Champion, ‘92 & ‘93 Runner-up).

In May 2019, Rydquist graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He earned his master’s degree in educational foundations from the University of Hawai’i in May 2021.

What they are saying about Jack Rydquist:

“Jack joined us on the Hilltop before our last season, and he was very impactful in terms of making our program better. Jack was always willing and able to take on whatever was asked of him and exhibited great attention to detail. By the end of our season together, I knew I could trust Jack to take on more responsibility. I am really happy for Jack as he gets promoted to Director of Strategy & Analytics, and I am excited for Coach Gerlufsen and the program that they will continue to have Jack as part of their program.” - Todd Golden, University of Florida Head Coach
