Liam Quinn joined the USF athletic department as academic success coach and director of student outreach in March of 2015.

In his present role, Quinn provides individual academic advising and coaching for undergraduates, with a special emphasis on working with student-athletes to address numerous and multifaceted academic along with administrative questions. He also assists students in enhancing their academic skills through various campus resources, provides administrative support in the processing of academic forms and guides students through degree evaluations and graduation plans.

Prior to his appointment at USF, Quinn served as a college program advisor with the San Francisco-based Making Waves Education Program, where he aided high school and college students who were first generation family members to attend or who aspired to attend college. He helped students identify their areas of interest, build college applications lists and provided support throughout the application process.

From 2006-09, Quinn served as a residential treatment counselor for the Ryther Child Center in Seattle, Wash., where he was responsible for the daily routine of young children ages 6-13 who had experienced severe abuse and neglect. His guidance helped provide stable behaviors and safety as the children prepared to transition into longer-term group care, foster placements or adoption.

Quinn graduated from Middlebury (Vt.) College in 2005 with a degree in American civilization. He was a four-year baseball letterwinner and served one season as the Panthers’ graduate assistant coach, helping the team to its first New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Tournament title and a berth in the NCAA Division III Championships. He also held coaching positions with the 13-under Northwest Titans (2006-07) and 16-under Eastlake Eagles (2008) baseball clubs in Seattle. Quinn also served as an assistant junior varsity coach at San Francisco’s St. Ignatius College Preparatory, where he mentored current Don left hander Sam Granoff.

A native of Waltham, Vt., Liam currently resides in San Francisco with his wife Dana, who attended USF’s School of Law and currently works as an attorney at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights in the city. Liam also serves as president of the SF Spurs, the Bay Area’s official supporter club for Tottenham Hotspur of the English Premier League.
