ARLINGTON, Tex.—Only two weeks into the Major League Baseball season, former Dons pitcher Aaron Poreda was called up by the Texas Rangers on Friday, marking his second stint in the sport's top league.
Poreda was signed by the Rangers in October 2013 and started the season at AAA-Round Rock of the Pacific Coast League. He had thrown in five games for Round Rock and allowed three runs while striking out five in four innings of work.
Poreda threw for the Dons from 2005 to 2007 before being taken with the 25th overall pick in the 2007 MLB Draft by the Chicago White Sox. He made his Major League debut with the White Sox in 2009 and made 14 appearances that season with a 2.70 ERA.
The Rangers, who currently sit in second place in the AL West, will be hosting the Chicago White Sox for three games beginning Friday.
