San Francisco (13-14, 3-6 WCC) has dropped four of its last five games since beating No. 7 Oregon last Tuesday and will continue its short four-game road trip at Loyola Marymount this weekend.
With the Dons trailing 2-1 in the third, the Sacramento State offense woke up. After a leadoff single, Will Soto hit a two-run home run to put the Hornets up by three. Later in the inning, Brandon Hunley singled home one and it was followed by a two-run double by Nathan Lukes.
Sacramento State scored six runs to take a commanding 8-1 lead.
The Dons chipped away at the lead in the fourth and fifth.

Bradley Zimmer a solo home run, his seventh of the season.
The pitching staff struggled early.
Brock Larson got his first career start and only lasted 0.1 innings, while walking three and giving up two runs.
Sheldon Lee came in for relief and surrendered six runs, four earned in in two innings of work.
The pitching staff settled down after the third and went six shutout innings and allowed only three hits.
