Louisville, Ky. –– At the Pre-Nationals, hosted by the University of Louisville on Saturday morning, the University of San Francisco Dons placed 18th overall in the 42-team field.
With 288 runners competing, the Dons finished the 8K race with 508 team points overall. Colorado, ranked No. 1 in the country by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country, dominated the meet, coming in first place with 89 team points.
USF's
Alex Short paced his team, finishing 31st with a time of 23:45.7.
Matt Leach finished next for the Dons in 74th place, completing the course in 24:11.5. Just behind Leach came
Ryan Driscoll (24:15.3) in 87th. After Driscoll was
Mohamed Aziz in 103rd at 24:19.9.
Edward Shepherd (25:00.5) and
Quentin Purtzer (25:01.6) finished very close to each other, in 213th and 216th respectively.
Individually, Thomas Curtin of Virginia Tech took home first place, running a 23:18.2. After him were Edward Cheserek (23:22.8) of Oregon and Anthony Rotich (23:23.5) of UTEP to round out the top three finishers.Â
