Santa Clara, Calif.- In its first match in West Coast Conference action, San Francisco's men's tennis team served up a dominating win against Santa Clara University by a score of 4-0 at the Degheri Tennis Center.

"We had a very efficient match today and took care of business," said director of tennis
Peter Bartlett. "The guys competed with good intensity and focus. We are playing with nice confidence after the last weekend's tournament. Conference matches are always very competitive events for rival schools and this was no different. It was good to get our first conference match under our belt against a quality conference opponent. Our goal going forward is to take the momentum into this weekend match against Nevada, Reno."

USF seized an early advantage in first doubles where the nationally ranked pair No. 31
Bernardo Saraiva and
Nils Skajaa defeated Ashot Khacharyan and Mikheil Khmiadashvili 6-3.Â
Christian Brockstedt and
Alex Santiago captured the first point for the Dons in third doubles where they picked up a 6-3 win against Michael Standifer and Sebastian Mathieu.

The Dons' momentum continued in singles play as
Vasco Valverde grabbed a quick 6-0, 6-0 win against Max Heerinckx.Â
Thomas Takemoto provided the third point for the Dons on Court 4 with a 6-2, 6-4 win against Sam Bertam.

Saraiva clinched the match for USF moments later in first singles with a 6-2, 6-3 victory of Khacharyan remaining undefeated this spring season. Saraiva now has a 9-0 winning record in has final season for the Dons.

The Dons will take on the Wolfpack next in Reno, Nevada this Saturday.
