SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco Dons cross country team demonstrated its prowess in the classroom with five men and women gracing the West Coast Conference All-Academic squads, announced today.
The three women selected –
Charlotte Taylor,
Tatjana Schulte (undecided business) and
Weronika Pyzik (international business) – each boast a perfect 4.0 in their respective studies. Taylor, a master's student pursuing a degree in international development economics, is also the Dons' top performer on the course, pacing the squad to their current No. 13 ranking in the nation.
USF junior
Mohamed Aziz (3.44, architecture and community design) is one of three males making a repeat appearance on the All-Academic Team.
Alex Short, the Dons' top male runner also makes the distinguished list, carrying a 3.60 gpa in his studies toward a master's degree in economics.
All five USF runners selected to the league's All-Academic first team will compete for the Dons in tomorrow's WCC Championships.
The Dons tied for the top school in the league by number of represented student-athletes, as Portland also earned five selections. BYU (3), Pepperdine (2) and Gonzaga (2) were the only other schools with multiple combined selections on the men's and women's first teams.
Elena Burkard (3.43, chemistry),
Ryan Driscoll (3.46, organizational leadership – master's),
Frederique Latraverse (3.94, kinesiology),
Caleb McClain (3.65, politics),

In order to be considered for the WCC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative gpa, while also being a significant contributor to his or her team.
