USF Closes Weekend at Woody Wilson Classic

DAVIS, Calif. – The San Francisco track and field team concluded its weekend Saturday, with a contingent for the Green and Gold competing at the Woody Wilson Classic.
The throwers opened the day's action, and freshman JoJo Ananouko improved on her school record in the javelin. Her hurl of 38.82 meters was good for third in the competition and upped the new USF benchmark by more than two meters. In the men's javelin competition, Katoa Ahau took top honors after his first throw flew for 53.59 m.
For Skylar Fenton, her loop around the track in 1:00.46 was a season-best mark for the Dons in the 400, where she finished fourth in the competition. Hurdler Eleni Fkiaras finished second in her event, completing the 400 m hurdles in 1:04.83.
On the men's side, Gunnar Vik turned in a collegiate best mark in the 1,500 m, placing third with a time of 4:01.27. Teammate Caleb McClain, competing in his first 1,500 meter race, crossed the line in 4:02.66 to take seventh.
Next up for the Dons is a pair of Bay Area meets. USF will lace up for the Stanford Twilight on Friday, and the squad is slated to compete in Cal's Brutus Hamilton Invitational Friday and Saturday,
