Academic Progress Rate scores are a measure of classroom performance of student-athletes on every Division I team based on eligibility and retention for each semester or quarter. The data is based on a combination of scores and a series of formulas over a four-year period starting with the 2011-12 academic year. The APR includes both retention at institution and academic eligibility in its calculation and provides a clear picture of the academic culture in each sport.
