AT A GLANCE

OAKLAND, Calif. – The University of San Francisco men's cross country team raced to their second consecutive third-place finish at the West Coast Conference Championships at Metropolitan Golf Links in Oakland, Calif. on Friday afternoon.

Senior Mohamed Aziz, who finished the race in eighth, led the 29th-ranked USF team, earning a spot on the All-WCC First-Team. Finishing the race next for the Dons was Jack Rowe, who placed 12th with a time of 24:03.5 and earning honorable mention honors.

Another pair of Dons finished in the Top 20, with Hugh Nicklason (24:23.7) and Jacob Allen (24:24.9) coming in at 18th and 19th, respectively. Alex Howard clocked in at a time of 24:34 to finish in 24th, while Scott Halsted finished in 25:00.8. Rounding out the scoring for the Dons was freshman Isaias DeLeon with a time of 25:30.3 in 45th. QUOTES
USF head coach Helen Lehman-Winters

On Mohamed's race

"We seem to have a lot of interchangeable pieces on the men's side, Mo [Aziz] had a great race. He had to sit out Wisconsin, so he hasn't raced in a month, and I was really happy with how he stuck his nose into that top group. He ended finishing all-conference, and that's a huge accomplishment for him."

On the men's performance

"We got a little bit strung out and would have liked to execute a little better together. But for the most part we seem to get better every meet, so we're excited to have a shot at the regional meet and try to advance to the national meet."

WHAT'S NEXT

The Dons will travel to Seattle's Jefferson Golf Course for the NCAA West Regionals on Nov. 10. The Regionals will be pivotal for the Dons as the look to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships, which will take place on Nov. 18, in Louisville, Ky.
