SANTA ANA, Calif. – The University of San Francisco women's golf team wrapped up its fall schedule on the final day of the UC Irvine Invitational on Tuesday, where the Dons finished 10
th at plus-53 with a team score of 917.
"Tough round to finish on for the season," said head coach
Sara Doell. "We will use this as motivation to work even harder this winter to get strong and better. We look forward to continuing to represent the Dons positively. This team has a lot of heart and passion. They work hard, play hard and they are very focused. I am looking forward to seeing what this team can accomplish as we move forward."
USF wrapped up the final fall tournament with a 25-over par 313 on Tuesday. Not a single team finished the day under par. Pepperdine posted the low round at two over. The average score was 16.8.
Vanessa Ha was once again the Dons leader, finishing the tournament tied for 14
th with a 54-hole score of 222. After scoring back-to-back rounds at 72, she finished today plus-six with a 78. On par-3s she was almost perfect, finishing with a birdie on 17. She finished with pars or better on all but one par-3 on the day.
Ha wrapped up the tournament tied for second in par-3 scoring. She joined fellow teammate
Kimberly Liu with an average score of 2.93 for the tournament.
Liu finished the day six-over for a 78. Her three-round score of 228 placed her tied for 34th in her first competition of the fall. Through the first nine holes, Liu was one-over, she carded birdies on the par-3 17 and fourth. Her lone blemish from par-3 on the entire tournament came when she tripled the ninth hole.
Samantha Gong finished in third for USF. She carded a 14-over 230 for the tournament. On Tuesday, she finished the afternoon seven-over for a 78. Senior
Emily Laskin wrapped up the tournament 21-over par with a 54-hole score of 237. Today she scored a seven-over 79. Her three birdies on the day tied her with teammate
Pearl Rojanapeansatith for the most on the team. Rojanapeansatith, finished the tournament tied for 56
th with a three-round score of 238. On Tuesday, she finished with a seven-over, 79.
Long Beach State took home the team championship, with a 15-over 879. The individual champion belonged to Colorado State's Katrina Prendergast who finished the tournament with a nine-under par 207.
USF returns to action in the new year when they open the spring schedule at the Battle of the Rock, hosted by UC Riverside on Monday, Feb. 12 at the Oak Quarry Golf Club in Riverside, Calif.
