AT A GLANCE:
SAN FRANCISCO – The University of San Francisco men's soccer team returns home to host Pacific and Loyola Marymount in the final week of the 2017 season. Saturday's contest against LMU will be senior day, with the Dons biding farewell to six athletes.
Â
USF (7-8, 4-1 WCC) is headed into these final two contests riding a four-game winning streak, with the latest coming in a 1-0 victory over San Diego last Friday. A 66th minute headed goal from junior midfielder
Sean Bowman was the difference between the two teams. The defense was the standout against San Diego, recording the Dons' first shutout of the season.
Â
Results at Negoesco Stadium have been a bit of mixed bag with the Dons going 2-2 over the course of the season. USF has earned one home win (Saint Mary's, 4-2) in West Coast Conference play.
Â
Pacific (11-3-1, 3-1-1 WCC) enters the game on Wednesday hoping to bounce back from a goalless tie with the Gaels last weekend. UOP leads the WCC in three defensive categories: goals against average (.98), goals allowed (15), and shutouts (6). Senior keeper Curtis Goldsmith is tied for first in the league in shutouts with six, and sixth in the league in saves with 42.
Â
LMU (4-11-2, 2-4 WCC) enters the final game of the 2017 having beaten Santa Clara, 2-1, on the Lions' senior day. After falling behind in the first half, the Lions roared back in the second half with two goals in the final 14 minutes of the game.
