Opening Tip
USF (18-9, 8-6 WCC) meets the top-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs (26-0, 14-0 WCC) Thursday night at the McCarthey Athletic Center in Spokane, Wash. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. The Dons are coming off a 68-52 loss to BYU on Saturday while the Zags remained unbeaten in the year with a 74-64 win at St. Mary's. Thursday night's game will be televised by ROOT SPORTS Northwest and available in the Bay Area on CSNCA.
Inside the Matchup
- Thursday's game marks the first time USF has faced the No. 1 team in the nation since Jan. 18, 1979 when the Dons fell to top-ranked Notre Dame, 86-69 in South Bend…USF is 0-3 all-time vs. top-ranked teams.
- USF (15) and Gonzaga (19) have combined to win/share more than half of the WCC's 64 regular season championships.
- The Dons and Zags are the only two WCC teams to have been ranked No. 1 in the nation.

- At 18-9, USF is off to its best 27-game start since the 1999-2000 season when the Dons were 19-8 at the same mark of the season before finishing at 19-9...the Dons are also three games ahead of last year's pace when the team was 15-12 at the 27-game mark of the season...have already eclipsed last year's win total of 15.

Gonzaga has won 10 straight in the series dating back to USF's last win, 66-65 on Feb. 18, 2012 in San Francisco. The Bulldogs claimed the first meeting of the year, 95-80 in San Francisco. First Meeting With Gonzaga
The Zags won the first game of the season series, 95-80 on Jan. 5 in San Francisco. Nigel Williams-Goss scored a game-high 36 points while Jordan Mathews finished with 16. Killian Tillie (12) and Przemek Karnowski were also in double figures for the Zags. Freshman

Ronnie Boyce each added 13 for the Dons (11-5, 1-2 WCC). Gonzaga shot 61 percent from the field while USF finished at a respectable 46.9 percent from the floor. The Dons had no answer for Williams-Goss, however, as the senior made 12-of-15 shots from the floor, including 3-of-4 from long distance, and made all nine of his free throws for a career-high 36 points. He also grabbed 11 rebounds for a double-double. Gonzaga led by as many as 18 points in the first half at but a Ratinho three-pointer just before the horn trimmed the lead to 46-36 at the break. Any momentum the Dons gained was quickly squelched by the Zags on their first two possessions of the second half. The Dons managed to get back to within 10 points at 55-45 following a Boyce layup, but could get no closer as the Zags extended their winning streak to 15 games to open the season.
Last Time Out: BYU 68, USF 52Â
USF shot just 24.7 percent from the field and dropped a 68-52 decision to BYU last Saturday on the Hilltop. The Dons missed 17 of their first 19 shots from the floor and shot just 22.2 percent in the first half and trailed 36-22 at the break. Chase Foster was the only USF player to reach double figures with 10 points. Four Cougars reached double figures, led by Yoeli Childs who poured in a game-high 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the field. Childs also pulled down 17 rebounds helping the Cougars to a 50-41 advantage on the boards. USF's only lead was at 6-4 less than five minutes into the game.
