Dons Look to Extend Winning Streak Versus Sonoma State on Monday

The University of San Francisco men's basketball looks to make 12 in a row against Sonoma State when the Seawolves come to the Hilltop on Monday evening. The Dons and Seawolves tip off at 7:00 p.m. with Pat Olson and Jim Brovelli calling the action live on TheW.tv. USF AT A GLANCE

USF is in the middle of a season-long six game homestand, Under head coach Kyle Smith, the Dons are 29-10.
USF enters the game 2-0 following back-to-back runaway wins after defeating Maine 93-50 in the 2018-19 home debut.
Charles Minlend had a spectacular debut for the home crowd on Saturday afternoon, scoring a career-high 22 points in the lopsided win over the Black Bears.
In the win against the Black Bears, the Dons tallied 21 assists and shot 54.5 percent from the field. Six players finish with double figures led by Minlend's 22. Joining him was Frankie Ferrari (13), Jordan Ratinho (12), Jimbo Lull (12), Matt McCarthy (10), and Remu Raitanen (10).
USF has shot 50.0 or better in back-to-back games to begin the year, the last time they shot 50.0 percent or better in back-to-back games came on Jan. 14 and 19, 2017 against Pacific and Portland. The Dons shot just 50.0 or better six times as a team last year.
The Dons continue to put the clamps on opponents' 3-point shooting, after holding UC Davis to 15.8 percent from beyond the arc, the Black Bears finished the day 3-for-20 (15.0 percent).

THE SERIES
Monday's game against Sonoma State will be the 12th in a series that dates back to the 1986-87 season when the Dons defeated the Seawolves 73-68 on Jan. 5, 1987. USF owns a 11-0 advantage in the series that has always been played at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center. The largest win came in the 1988-90 season when the Dons won by 37, 94-57 over the Seawolves.

ABOUT THE SEAWOLVES
Sonoma State is a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Associations, one of the premier Division II athletic conferences. Under the guidance of longtime head coach Pat Fuscaldo, the Seawolves are 1-1 this season who were picked to finish 10th in the CCAA. The Seawolves welcome back their leading scorer from a year ago in Armani Nicolis, who earned All-CCAA Honorable Mention honors last year.

LAST GAME AGAINST THE BLACK BEARS
The Dons and Seawolves resumed their series last season when Sonoma State came to the Hilltop on Nov. 21, 2017. The Dons led big at the half, going into the locker room up 45-19 thanks to strong shooting from the field. Sonoma State outscored the Dons 36-33 after the intermission, but USF coasted to the 78-55 win. Former Don, Chase Foster, led all scorers with 18 that evening. He was one of four players from USF in double figures. Jimbo Lull added 11 points off the bench.
