LOS ANGELES – The University of San Francisco women's basketball team was defeated by the Loyola Marymount Lions (17-9, 9-6 WCC), 65-60, Saturday afternoon at the McKeon Pavilion. The loss evens the series between the teams, 1-1.

After going down late in the first quarter, the Dons battled back 9-0 run before LMU ended its scoreless streak to make it 20-14 USF. USF kept the lead heading into half time, carrying a six-point lead over the Lions, 40-34.

LMU came out in the second half playing stingy defense, snatching six steals from the Dons in the third quarter. With a little under four minutes to play in the third quarter, the Lions took its first lead since the first quarter of the game.

After going down six in the third quarter, USF fought back hitting back-to-back three pointers to bring the two teams level at 52. USF increased its lead to six-points, before the Lions went on a 11-0 run to close the game out.

GAME NOTES
- Kalyn Simon led the Dons with 22 points, a rebound and two assists in 40 minutes of play.
- Shannon Powell was the second Don in double digit scoring, contributing 17 points to help the Dons.
- Moa Lundqvist hit the boards hard today, grabbing 18 rebounds to lead the team.
- The Dons outrebounded the Lions, 44-39.
- USF brought in nine second-chance points compared to LMU's six.

UP NEXT
After the two road games this week, the Dons return home to War Memorial on Thursday Feb. 22 to take on Pacific in a 7 p.m. match up. The game will be the final home game of the year and will honor four seniors in a Senior Night ceremony.
