THE RUNDOWN
SANTA MONICA, Calif. - After two matches, the University of San Francisco women's beach volleyball has wrapped up play at the 2018 WCC Championships in southern California and will return back to the Bay Area. 

On Friday, the Dons fell to No. 4-seeded Pacific and could not pull an upset out against No. 2-seeded LMU. Out of the two duals, the Dons won one flight. The Tigers took down USF 4-1, with Julia Topor and Anna Dalla Vecchia earning the lone victory in a three-set battle as the 1s pair. Sabrina Blackwell and Nora Buvarp Lavik forced a third set in their flight, but could not get the W. In match two, the Lions swept the Dons, each flight in two sets. 

USF wraps the season 4-11.

THOUGHTS FROM FRANCISCO 
Head coach Frank Lavrisha:
"It was a day of mixed results at the WCCs. Topor and Dalla Vecchia had an impressive win at 1s against Pacific. After a few near-misses during the season, they won a three-set match versus a quality opponent. Blackwell and Buvarp Lavik also went to 3 sets, competing with a solid 4s team. 

LMU presented a formidable opponent from southern California. Despite losing all five pairs, we had great performances. Araujo and Ronda lost in 2 sets, but by the slimmest of margins. Howell and Carly competed well against a tough 2s team.

Overall, we finished the season strong with quality wins, the five seed in the WCCs, and a solid core of returning players."
