Dons Season Ends in NCAA Bryan Texas Regional

BRYAN, Texas – The University of San Francisco men's golf knew they had an uphill battle to advance to the NCAA Finals when they began their final round on Wednesday morning.  That didn't stop the Dons from going out and carding their best round of the tournament, shooting an 11-over 299 to give USF a three-day total of 903. 
 
Sophomore Tim Widing capped off the strong day three showing with an even par 72 for his final round.  The native of Jonkoping, Sweden climbed 14 spots on the final day, to finish tied for 35th with a 6-over 222 (75-75-72).  Widing tallied five birdies on the round, including back-to-back birdies on No. 9 and 10 to finish the tournament. 
 
Soren Lind and Jalen Griffin finished tied for 57th, both finishing with a 10-over 227 for the tournament.  Lind had strong day for the Dons.  He opened the round with a birdie on No. 10 and was 1-under at the turn.  He finished the afternoon with a 1-over 73.
 
Griffin ends his spectacular career with another solid day on the course.  He finished the tournament with a final 6-over 78 giving him a three-day score of 227 (76-73-78).  He finished with a birdie on No. 14 and No. 9 to give him two on the day and seven for the tournament. 
 
Senior Henry Chung also had a stellar end to his career.  He shot a 5-over 77 on the afternoon, giving him a three-day score of 17-over 233 (81-75-77).  Alex Chin's freshman season finished with a 7-over 79, finishing the tournament with a 17-over 233 (76-78-79).  Chin's year ends after playing in the final seven tournaments of the year for the Dons.
 
Texas A&M took home the team championship with a 27-under 837 (279-279-279).  Clemson finished in second with an 846, followed by Baylor at 857, UCLA was fourth with an 866, and Kentucky took fifth to advance with an 874.  The individual champion was Texas A&M's Chandler Phillips who finished the tournament with an 11-under 205 (68-68-69).
