Women’s Cross Country and Men’s Soccer Finish Atop DI-AAA ADA All-Sports Standings

CLEVELAND – For the second consecutive year, the University of San Francisco captured two D1-AAA Athletic Directors Association All-Sports trophies, helping lead the Dons to a fifth place finish out of 98 Division I-AAA institutions in the Learfield Directors' Cup Standings.

The 174.0 points tallied in the Learfield Cup standings represents a new program record for the Dons. It is the second-straight year USF has set a new benchmark in the Learfield Cup standings.  The 105th place, fifth among DI-AAA, is also the highest finish for USF since the awards began in the 1993-94 season.

The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports in Division I – 10 men's and 10 women's.

USF earned 140 points in the fall, 90 points coming from the women's cross country program who captured second place at the NCAA Championships at Louisville, Kentucky.  The second place finish was more than enough to help the women's cross country program secure their second-straight DI-AAA All-Sports trophy.

That same season, an epic run to its 35th conference championship propelled the men's soccer program to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2008.  After defeating Cal 2-1 in the rain at their house, the Dons advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.  The second round finish gave USF a tie for 17th in the Learfield Standings, that pushed the Dons into a five way tie for the All-Sports trophy.
