All-New Triathlon Team Announces 2019 Roster

SAN FRANCISCO — Head coach Gina Kehr has announced the signing of four future Dons to join the all-new triathlon team in the fall of 2019. 

Elizabeth Moore, Katherine Badham, Hannah Weymuller and Stefany Espinoza will begin the 2019 fall season, competing in four competitive races from all around the world. The season begins on Sept. 1 at the Women's Collegiate Triathlon Regional Qualifier in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, and will conclude on Nov. 16 at the National Championships in Tempe, Arizona. They will participate in the Trine Triple Sprint race on Sept. 14  in Fremont, Indiana and in the Central Regional Qualifier on Oct. 19 in Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia. 

Elizabeth Moore (Transylvania University/The Webb School of Knoxville/Knoxville, TN)
 
Elizabeth Moore comes to San Francisco as a sophomore transfer from Transylvania University, where she majored in Biology and Spanish. As a freshman at Transylvania, Moore was a 2018 All-American, a Scholar-Academic All-American by the Collegiate Triathlon Coaches Association and was Freshman of the Year. Moore came in first place in the 2019 NCAA Eastern Regional Qualifier (all divisions) and was National Runner Up at the 2019 Division 3 Women's Collegiate National Championships.

Kehr on Moore: "We are excited to bring on board Elizabeth Moore to USF's inaugural triathlon team.  Elizabeth comes to USF with a year of NCAA experience and will be a leader on and off the race course. I am beyond excited to guide her to her full potential."

Katherine Badham (Mississippi State/Takapuna Grammar School/Auckland, New Zealand)

Katherine Badham joins the program as a junior transfer from Mississippi State. As a freshman and sophomore, Badham ran track and cross country, running personal bests of 10:05.38 in the 3000m, 4.41:06 in the 1500m, 10:58.21 in the 3000m steeplechase, 18:53.19 in the 5K and 21:41.15 in the 6K. Badham finished the 6K at the NCAA South Region Championships in 22.46.1 and placed 107th at the SEC Championsips in 21:41.46. 

Kehr on Badham: "We are pleased to bring on Katherine Badham at USF as a dual sport athlete. Coach McCurry and I are excited to be working together to bring the best to USF triathlon and track and field."

Hannah Weymuller (University of San Francisco Club Swim and Masters Swim Team Co-President/Berkshire School Sheffield, MA)

Hannah Weymuller comes into the program as a sophomore from USF's Swim and Masters Swim Team. Weymuller won the 2019 US Pacific Masters Championships as a club member for the University. Prior to USF, she attended Berkshire School Sheffield where she did it all - Varsity Alpine Ski Team Captain (4 letters), Varsity Crew (2 letters), Varsity Volleyball (1 letter), and Varsity Track and Field (2 letters). Weymuller competitively swam on the Methow Valley Killer Whales Club Swim Team Championship A Team for three years and took a leadership role as a coach for two years. 

Kehr on Weymuller: "We are proud to announce two returning USF students who will be returning to USF as student athletes. Welcome Hannah Weymuller and Stefany Espinozza who will be taking to the race course in fall. Both ladies come with athletic talent and USF team spirit and are ready and eager to represent!"

Stefany Espinoza (Granada Hills Charter High School, Calif./Los Angeles)

Stefany Espinoza enters the triathlon program as a sophomore. She graduated from Granada Hills Charter High School as a four-time letter winner and two-sport athlete in Swim and Waterpolo. Espinoza achieved many successes as a varsity athlete as she earned second place from 2015-2017 in freestyle relay, came in fourth place in the 400 yards freestyle relay in 2015 and finished in sixth place in the 200 yards free relay in 2016, both at the Los Angeles CIF Southern Section . 

Kehr on Espinoza: "We are proud to announce two returning USF students who will be returning to USF as student athletes. Welcome Hannah Weymuller and Stefany Espinoza who will be taking to the race course in fall. Both ladies come with athletic talent and USF team spirit and are ready and eager to represent!"
