Behind The Mask | Dons Spotlight on Director of Athletics Joan McDermott

SAN FRANCISCO – Season six, episode four of USF's cable television show, "Behind the Mask" airs tomorrow night, Thursday, Jan. 23 at 9:00 p.m. on NBC Sports California.

We begin this episode with a special segment on USF Director of Athletics, Joan McDermott.  The San Francisco native grew up a Dons fan, going to games with her father when she was in the third grade.  McDermott, a rabid sports fan, explains how her love of sports led her to become a successful coach and athletic administrator.

The three-part show will also feature a segment on women's basketball graduate transfer Mikayla Williams, a native of Meath Park, Saskatchewan, who came to the Hilltop by way of UC San Diego.  Williams has played in 19 games for the Dons, starting 17, and is averaging 14.3 points per game and 9.0 rebounds per contest.

There will also be a feature on men's basketball senior Remu Raitanen.  One of five international players on the men's team, Raitanen is having a career year for the Dons, averaging 5.5 points per 3.3 rebounds per game. Thursday will be his 114th career game playing for the Dons, and USF is 70-43 in games he has played.
