MGOLF | Dons Begin Spring Season at Orange Country Collegiate Classic

The University of San Francisco men's golf team returns to action on Monday morning when it begins the spring season. The Dons travel to Southern California to play in the Orange County Collegiate Classic co-hosted by Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine at the Coto de Caza Golf Club.

The Course
The 54-hole tournament will take place on the par 72, 6,986 yard South Course. Two consecutive 18-hole rounds will be played on Monday, with the final 18 holes played on Tuesday. Teams and individuals will compete for championships. The Coto de Caza South Course is a Robert Trent Jones, Jr. design, and is noted for its tight fairways and challenging doglegs.
The Field
The 18 team field includes co-hosts Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine as well as Butler, British Columbia, Cal Baptist, Cal Poly, Cal State Northridge, Central Arkansas, Grand Canyon, Northern Alabama, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, and UC Santa Barbara as well as WCC foes Loyola Marymount and Santa Clara.
The Dons
USF has been off since early November when they took ninth at the Saint Mary's Invitational. The Dons wrapped up the fall with three top-10 finishes including back-to-back second place finishes at the Maridoe Intercollegiate and the Oregon State Invitational. USF will open the spring with Tim Widing, Soren Lind, Toby Briggs, Matthew Anderson, and Alex Chin in the lineup. Anderson is coming off a tremendous fall season where he finished with two top-10 finishes which led the Dons.
