SAN FRANCISCO – The life of a professional baseball player is one of constant change. On June 24, Major League Baseball announced a 60-game season beginning in July. On Tuesday, the league announced that the minor league season would be cancelled due to Covid-19, impacting thousands of prospects hoping to break in with the big club. One of those minor league players is former Don
Dominic Miroglio, a catcher in the Arizona Diamondbacks farm system.
In this episode of Dons From Distance, Director of Creative Video
Katie Morgan chats with the former USF backstop. The two discuss Miroglio's time in Rookie Ball and High-A, as well as playing in Double-A with the Diamondbacks other top catching prospect, Daulton Varsho.
The former all-league catcher for the Dons was drafted three times in his amateur career, finally signing with the Diamondbacks after being selected in the 2017 MLB Amateur Draft. In three minor league seasons, Miroglio has played in 188 games, hitting .292 with 57 extra base hits, including 48 doubles and seven home runs in 644 at bats. He was named a California League All-Star in 2018 while playing for the Visalia Rawhide and was named a High Class A All-Star by Baseball America in the same year.
This spring he was invited to the Arizona Diamondbacks spring training as a non-roster invitee.
