SAN FRANCISCO – An all-time great of the women's soccer program at USF, and to this day the women's soccer team's all-time leading scorer, Shanna Blanchard maintains critical place in the history of Dons Athletics. In this week's edition of Tuesday Testimonials, USF Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director, Frank Allocco, talks with Blanchard about her path to the Hilltop, her successes on the field of play, and her coaching career.
Blanchard begins by delving into her roots, which involved growing up in southern California and an incredible relationship with her parents that drove her to her best athletic performances. She talks about her great success during her high school years, and what events led to her eventual landing spot at USF.
She talks about meeting Samantha Jehnings, USF women's soccer's second all-time leading scorer, and building a relationship with Jehnings by coming to Dons games.
A decorated winner of the Anne Dolan award for outstanding female student athlete, an honoree of the 75 Legends of USF list, and the first ever women's soccer player enshrined in the USF Athletics Hall of Fame, Blanchard discusses what those accomplishments meant to her.
She closes the interview by talking about her coaching career, setting the world record for longest consecutive soccer ball juggling, and why she is still connected to USF to this day.
