The first ever matchup took place on January 6, 1956 with the Dons winning 62-51 at Kezar Stadium. At home, the Dons are 45-20 against the Waves.  Last season, the Dons won the only matchup between the two teams, winning 63-61 in overtime on Feb. 22, 2020.  Over the last 10 matchups, the Dons are 8-2.

The Waves limit their foes to 27.8 percent from beyond the arc.  They are led by the dynamic duo of all world guard Cobey Ross (16.9 ppg, 7.63 asists per game) and forward Kessler Edwards (17.4 ppg, 6.8 rebounds per game).

Last Time Out Versus PEPPERDINE
The Dons won a defensive struggle last February beating the visiting Waves 63-61 in overtime. The matchup featured two great scoring guards, with Pepperdine's Colbey Ross finishing with a game-high 20 points and seven assists and the Dons' Charles Minlend finished with 19 points and 12 boards.

It was seldom used Trevante Anderson who gave the Dons a spark.  The reserve guard finished with 11 points in 17 minutes of action.

With the Dons trailing 58-56 with less than 10 seconds to play, Minlend hit both ends of a 1-on-1 to send the game into overtime. In the extra period the Dons defense took over, holding the Waves to one free throw and a meaningless field goal as the time expired.

NEXT UP
The Dons remain home for a matchup against No. 2 Gonzaga.  Saturday's contest will tip off at 3:05 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN2 with Dave Flemming and Sean Farnham calling the action. The Dons' radio broadcast will shift to KNBR 680-AM and 104.5 FM for Saturday's contest.
