Four Dons Earn All-WCC Honors

SAN MATEO, Calif. – Following the conclusion of the 2022 regular season, the West Coast Conference officially announced their annual men's soccer honors on Wednesday afternoon.

For San Francisco, junior Max Hamelink was named to the All-WCC Second Team while teammates Kevyn Lo, Reid Roberts and Nathan Simeon were selected as All-WCC Honorable Mentions. Notably, Roberts was also named to the All-WCC Freshmen Team following an outstanding first year in the green and gold.

Making an immediate impact upon his arrival on the Hilltop, Hamelink became a force offensively for the Dons as he finished the season tied for second in the conference with seven total goals while also tying for third with 16 total points. Additionally, his two game-winning goals ranked tied for third in the WCC while his 30 total shots placed him thirteenth overall. For USF, Hamelink's seven goals, 16 points and two game-winning goals all led the team while his 30 shots ranked second behind only Dominic Valdivia (39).

Capping off his career with another impressive season, Kevyn Lo played and started in all 17 matches for USF this fall, racking up a team-high 1,449 total minutes on the pitch. Anchoring the back line for second year head coach Chris Brown, Lo was a key piece of the Don's stout defense that finished with the second-lowest goals against average (1.06) and the fourth-most shutouts (5) in the conference.

Closing out his time at USF, Simeon dominated from the start this year as he ranked number one in the nation early in the fall after recording eight assists in just six matches. Switching to the offensive side of the ball after primarily playing as a defender in years past, Simeon finished tied with Sebastian Nava of Portland for the league-lead in assists (8). For USF, the Montreal native led the team in assists while also placing third in shots (28), tying for third in shots on goal (11) and tying for fourth in total points (8).

Showing promise in his first year in San Francisco, Roberts played and started in 16 of USF's 17 matches this season. Growing into one of the elite defenders in the conference, Roberts solidified the back line for the Dons alongside Lo as the Colorado Springs native totaled 1,410 minutes this season, good for third on the team. Notably, he also scored his first collegiate goal in USF's 6-0 shutout of Cal Poly on Sept. 12.
