PALM DESERT, Calif. – Playing in their first of two consecutive tournaments in Southern California, the University of San Francisco men's golf team placed third overall at the Wyoming Desert Match Play in Palm Desert on Friday and Saturday.
TOURNAMENT RESULTS:
- Competing in a unique tournament with a field of eight teams, the Dons faced off against Air Force in the quarterfinal round, taking down the Falcons 5-1: Soren Lind over C. Baca (8&7), Christoffer Palsson over J. Farmer (8&6), Toby Briggs over C. Kahle (3&2), C. Park over Harry Brown (5&4), Matthew Anderson over A. Kuznik (5&4) and Alex Chin over S. Pierce (8&7).
- In the semifinal round, USF squared off against host Wyoming, but unfortunately fell to the Cowboys, 4-2: Soren Lind over J. Dales (6&5), T. Severin over Christoffer Palsson (1UP), Toby Briggs over B. Waters (1UP), C. McLaughlin over Harry Brown (2&1), P. Azevedo over Matthew Anderson (2&1) and K. Coe-Kirkham over Alex Chin (3&2).
- On the final day of action, USF closed out the tournament on a strong note as the Dons claimed third place by defeating UTEP, 4-2: Alex Chin over G. Holmes (3&2), Matthew Anderson over D. Vilkauskas (2&1), M. Khawover Harry Brown (9&7), Toby Briggs over D. Daniels (3&2), Christoffer Palsson over J. Presutti (4&3) and G. Yellin over Soren Lind (2&1).
CATCHING UP WITH COACH KENNEDY:
"This week had some positive we can build on for the future. While we are disappointed not to come away with a win, we are starting to see some better form and hopefully that keeps getting better as we get to the meat of our schedule."

USF will have next week off before returning to the course on Monday, Feb. 21 and Tuesday, Feb. 22 at The Prestige in La Quinta, Calif., which will be hosted by UC Davis at Greg Norman Golf Course at PGA West. Live results will be available via the
