SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Sweeping the weekly awards after a statement win over No. 9 Stanford,
Reid Roberts was named the West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week after a dominant performance against the Cardinal on Thursday night.
Â
Similar to Bracken Serra, Roberts was instrumental in San Francisco's 2-1 upset on the road at No. 9 Stanford this Thursday. Playing a full 90 minutes for the eleventh time this season and the ninth straight game. Roberts shut down one of the nation's top wingers - Fletcher Bank - by holding Bank to no shots. Overall, Roberts guided a Dons defense that allowed the Cardinal to get off only three shots on goal, which ties their lowest output of the year in this category. Notably, the victory marked San Francisco's first win over a ranked team since a 2-1 win at No. 7 Portland on Oct. 26, 2018.
Â
Notably, this honor mark's the first defensive player of the week award for San Francisco this season and the third weekly award overall (Bracken Serra - Offensive Player of the Week twice).
