Men's Soccer Travels to Stockton for Saturday Night Showdown

STOCKTON, Calif. – Coming off a historic 2-1 win against No. 9 Stanford (6-2-3, 0-1-3) , the University of San Francisco men's soccer team (6-2-4, 0-1-1) will travel to Stockton this weekend to battle Pacific (4-4-4, 0-1-1 WCC) on Saturday night at Knoles Field.

DONS AT A GLANCE: 
  • Last week, San Francisco came back on the road at No. 9 Stanford as the Dons scored twice in the final five minutes of the match to upset the Cardinal, 2-1, at Maloney Field at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium. with the victory, USF ended Stanford's 18-game winning streak versus nonconference opponents. Sweeping the West Coast Conference weekly awards following this performance, Gabriel Bracken Serra was tabbed the conference's Offensive Player of the Week after scoring the game-winning goal with 20 seconds left while Reid Roberts was named WCC Defensive Player of the Week after locking up one of the nation's top wingbacks - Fletcher Bank. 
  • As a team San Francisco is first in the WCC in total shots (197) and shots on goal (75) as the green and gold are currently seventh in the nation in shots per game with an average of 16.42 per contest. 
  • Defending the net, Eric Waltz leads all goalkeepers in the conference with a .696 goals against average.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS:
  • In their last time on the pitch, Pacific fell at home to California, 2-0, on Saturday, Oct. 14. Despite the loss, forward Vinzent Zingel recorded a season-high six shots against the Golden Bears.
  • Leading the offense for the Tigers, Derick Roque has been dangerous no matter the matchup as he is currently second in the conference in goals (8), tied for third in shots on goal (14) and tied for fourth in shots (29).
  • In the cage, goalkeeper Joshua Moya is tied for third in the WCC with 34 saves on the year.
SERIES HISTORY: 
  • Dating back to 2014, the Dons and Tigers have met ten times as the two teams are even with five wins each (5-5-0). Notably, the Dons took two wins in the 2020-21 seasons followed by the Tigers evening out the score in 2021 and 2022 seasons. Overall, USF's last victory in Stockton came on Feb. 20, 2021 when the Dons defeated the Tigers, 3-2, at Knoles Field.
