Dons Fall to Nevada at Home

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco baseball team (3-3) dropped a 9-2 non-conference decision to Nevada (4-1) Saturday afternoon at Benedetti Diamond.
 
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
  • Nevada gained an early advantage in the first inning, scoring to take a 1-0 lead. Recording three hits in the top half of the opening inning, the Wolf Pack scored on a Bryce Matthews RBI groundout, scoring Jesse Pierce from third base.
  • The Wolf Pack expanded their advantage in the third, scoring three runs to take a commanding 4-0 lead. More runs came in the sixth and seventh innings as the Wolf Pack pushed their lead to 7-0.
  • The Dons got on the board in the bottom of the seventh, scoring two runs to cut the deficit to 7-2. Coming off the bench, Logan Schweizer led off a single to right field, followed by Charles-Etienne Pelletier and Kody Watanabe reaching on hit by pitches to load the bases. AJ Guiliana and Matty Fung both earned walks later in the inning to plate the two runs for the Dons.
  • Nevada quickly regained momentum in the final two frames, plating two more runs to solidify the 9-2 victory. 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
  • Fung and Guiliana recorded their first multi-hit games for the Dons this season, tallying two apiece while combining for two RBI and two walks.
  • In his second appearance this season, Lance Santerre pitched 3.2 innings of relief, allowing one run on two hits, with a career-high five strikeouts.
