Last season, Clemson enjoyed a historic season on the hardwood as the Tigers made a run to the Elite Eight for just the second time in program history (1980, 2024). Notably, Clemson knocked off New Mexico (11 seed), Baylor (3 seed) and Arizona (2 seed) before falling to Alabama (4 seed), 89-82, in the Elite Eight.
Recording a 24-12 overall record in 2023-24, their second-most wins in school history, Clemson extended head coach Brad Brownell through 2029 this offseason. Overall, Clemson defeated nine NCAA Tournament teams last year - six in the regular season and three in the tournament, the most in a season in school history. Seven of the nine wins were recorded away from home, the most in a season in school history.
This year, Clemson returns six scholarship players and 40.2 percent of its scoring from last year's team, including All-West Regional Team honorees Chase Hunter and Ian Schieffelin.
For San Francisco, the green and gold finished 23-11 in 2023-24, which included an 11-5 mark in conference play. USF eclipsed 20+ wins for the seventh straight full season (excluding 2020-21 COVID shortened season) in addition to notching 10+ conference victories for the second time in three seasons. Third-year head coach
Chris Gerlufsen will aim to continue the momentum he has built after guiding the Dons to the semifinal round of the WCC Tournament for the third straight year while also helping San Francisco earn a selection to the 2024 National Invitation Tournament (NIT) this past season.
