San Francisco Hosts Pacific to Begin Conference Action

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The University of San Francisco men's soccer team (1-5-2) is set to begin its West Coast Conference action as the Dons will host Pacific (2-3-2) for a midday matchup on Sunday, Sept. 29.

DONS AT A GLANCE:
  • Finishing their nonconference slate with a statement victory, San Francisco blanked San José State, 4-0, on Monday, Sept. 23. Making his first start at the collegiate level, William Krause made four saves on 16 shots faced to help lead the Dons to their first win and second shutout of the season. Offensively, four Dons scored in the win - Isaiah Easley, David Raphael, Junhwan Park and Chris Maldonado.
  • Adding an assist against San José State, Park continues to be an offensive threat early on his career as he now is tied for the team-lead with six total points this fall.
  • The green and gold head into West Coast Conference play ranked fourth overall in shots with 126 on the season as they have outshot their opponents in six of their eight contests so far.  
SCOUTING THE TIGERS:
  • Last time out, Pacific fell at home, 2-1, against CSU Bakersfield on Wednesday, Sept. 25. Despite the loss, Carlos Maldonado netted his first goal of the season for the Tigers while Joshua Moya added four saves in goal.
  • Beginning the season on a high note, Moya has dominated in goal so far as he currently is tied for first in the WCC in shutouts with three to his name. Overall, Moya is also second in the conference with 36 total saves through seven matches.
  • Four Tigers have recorded goals through so far this year - Vinzent Zingel (2), Maldonado (1), Luca Baltzer (1) Jose Maria Barrera (1).
SERIES HISTORY:
  • Since 2014, San Francisco holds a 6-5 advantage in the head-to-head series between the two programs. In their last meeting, San Francisco shutout Pacific, 1-0, on the road in Stockton on Oct. 21, 2023.
