PORTLAND ORE. - The University of San Francisco men's soccer team (9-5-1, 4-3 WCC) leveled the match early on the road at No. 9 Portland (11-1-3, 4-1-2 WCC), but ultimately fell to the Pilots, 3-1, at Merlo Field on Saturday night.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- Portland broke the scoreless tie when Sebastian Hernandez scored in the 12th minute, assisted by Diego Rosas.
- The Dons responded to tie it on a goal from Brayden Beason, his seventh goal of the season, in the 33rd minute, assisted by Jameson Raby and David Raphael.
- Portland then broke the 1-1 tie on Anton Hjalmarsson's 59th-minute goal, which came on Rosas' second assist of the night.
- The Pilots went ahead 3-1 with a 69th-minute goal from David Ajagbe, assisted by Nikos Clarke-Tosczak. The goal finished off the scoring in the match.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Raphael logged four shots against Portland, marking the second straight match and the fourth time this season he has tallied four or more shots.
- Beason tallied three shots on Saturday night, his seventh match this season with three or more shots.
- As a team, San Francisco outshot Portland 15-6 overall. It was the fifth time USF finished with 15 or more shots in a match this season.
- Lucas Jones collected two saves for the Dons out of six total Pilots shots.
