SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Sara Doell, head coach of the University of San Francisco women's golf team since 2017, has signed a three-year contract extension.
"The University of San Francisco is a beautifully diverse and unique place; I am incredibly grateful to be part of this community," Doell said. "Over the past eight years, I have coached talented and amazing young women who accomplish great things in the classroom, on the golf course, in the community, and beyond."
During her tenure, which began before the start of the 2017-18 campaign, Doell has established sustained success as the program has earned three team tournament victories, achieved 31 top-five finishes, produced seven individual title winners, and sent an individual to the NCAA Regionals on three occasions. Additionally, team members have been named to the West Coast Conference All-Conference Team every year under Doell's leadership, accumulating 15 total honors in eight full seasons.
This past season, Doell coached her team to a first-place finish at The Clash of Boulder Creek, setting multiple program records on October 20–22, 2024. The Dons set the 18-, 36-, and 54-hole records on the path to shooting 41-under par, winning the tournament by 14 strokes. Eva Pett claimed her first-ever individual title during the three-day event, finishing first with a career-low 15-under par. Pett also earned a tie for first place at the West Coast Conference Championship, her best-ever finish in the league's postseason event.
Doell oversaw the success of Riana Mission in 2024-25, as the senior earned two individual titles, prevailing at the Leadership and Golf Invitational and The Molly to begin the fall season. Mission, guided by Doell, made her third NCAA Regional appearance, competing as an individual qualifier at the Norman Regional. Mission also received an invitation to participate in the Augusta National Women's Amateur at the historic Augusta National Golf Club, becoming the first golfer in program history to compete in the prestigious event.
In 2021-22, Doell was named West Coast Conference Co-Coach of the Year, her first coaching honor in the WCC. Continuing to grow the program, San Francisco claimed its first tournament victory under Doell when the team finished in first place at the Valley Invitational on February 7 – 8, 2022.
Academically, her program has accumulated 25 WCC All-Academic and 32 WGCA All-Scholar Athlete honorees. Most recently, the team attained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.86 for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Doell, a native of Rochester, N.Y., is a Lifetime Member of the LPGA, earned her CLCC Life Coach certificate, and has published two Amazon best-selling books.
