Sasadeusz Nets Second Half Goal, Dons Draw Gaels

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The University of San Francisco women's soccer team (1-5-3, 0-1-1 WCC) fought back in the second half to notch a 1-1 tie against Saint Mary's (6-1-2, 1-0-1 WCC) on Saturday night at Negoesco Stadium.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

  • Quick to get on the scoreboard, Saint Mary's took an early 1-0 lead in the sixth minute via a Sydney Middaugh goal.
  • San Francisco outshot the Gaels 12-6 in the first half, but SMC ultimately held a 1-0 advantage into halftime.
  • Leveling the match, Natalie Drotzmann found a streaking Kaitlyn Sasadeusz for a goal in the 49th minute, knotting the match at 1-1.
  • Battling to the final horn, the Dons once again outshot Saint Mary's, 7-5 in the second half, but Sasadeusz's goal turned out to be the last score of the match as USF and SMC finished in a draw, 1-1.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

  • Sasadeusz scored San Francisco's first goal of conference play, and her fourth on the year, the most for a Don this season.
  • Drotzmann's assist to Sasadeusz was the second of her career, and her first point of the season.
  • Leading the offensive attack, Sasadeusz fired off a team-high six shots, and Lindsey Chau and Alicia Osegueda each totaled four shots, marking a season-high on shot attempts for all three Dons. Chau ties her season-high total from last match, having attempted four shots in each of the first two games of WCC action.
