Biography

GENERAL CAPSULE: A leading candidate tochallenge for West Coast Conference Defender of the Year honorsthis season... a relentless defender who will be counted on to makebig contributions on both ends of the floor this year... as thelone senior on the team, will be looked upon for leadership on andoff the court.

2001-2002 SEASON (7.7 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 2.3 APG, 1.7SPG): Turned in a career year for the Lady Dons as ajunior... established new single-season bests in virtually everymeaningful category... exploded for a career-high 22 points to goalong with 10 rebounds for her first double-double performance in aloss at Pepperdine (1/12/02)... tied a school and West CoastConference record, going a perfect 10-for-10 at the line againstthe Waves... turned in second double dip of the season in winagainst Gonzaga (1/25/02) with 12 points and a career-high 11rebounds against the Zags... also ripped down 11 boards in a WestCoast Conference Tournament victory against Loyola Marymount(2/28/02)... reached double-figure scoring on 10 occasions andpulled down 10 or more rebounds three times... ranked second on theteam in rebounds (4.8), assists (2.3) and steals (1.7); fourth inscoring (7.7)... led San Francisco in rebounding five times and wastop scorer once... only Lady Don to start all 30 games for headcoach Mary Hile-Nepfel last season.

2000-2001 SEASON (3.9 PPG, 2.1 RPG, 1.5 APG, 1.1SPG): Improving player for the Lady Dons... demonstratedsolid defensive skills... appeared in 28 games with nine starts...scored career-high 14 points in home loss to Portland (2/9/01)...dished out career-high eight assists in season opener against UCRiverside (11/19/00)... also pulled down career-high seven reboundsagainst Highlanders and matched it in upset win at Saint Mary's(1/31/01).

 

1999-2000 (1.4 PPG, 1.1 RPG, 0.5 APG): Sawaction in 21 games during freshman season... scored season-highthree points three times against Cal State Fullerton (1/9/00), SanFrancisco State (12/8/00) and #9 Iowa State (11/23/99)... dishedout three assists twice against Saint Mary's (2/12/00) and SanDiego State (12/1/99).

PREP CAREER: Comes from an outstanding highschool program... a member of the Division II all-CIF team andSuburban League MVP as a senior... averaged 15.6 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 9.3apg and 4.6 spg in her final prep campaign as she was named theLong Beach Press Telegram Player of the Year... graduated in1999.

PERSONAL: Lisa Marie Whiteside... goal for theseason is to be instrumental in helping USF win the WCCchampionship... best advice she would give youngsters is never losesight of your goals... would switch with Chamique Holdsclaw if shecould trade places with anyone for a day... favorite verse isPhilipians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthensme"... enjoys skating and fishing... favorite athletes are MichaelJordan and Vince Carter... daughter of Melvin Harvie... born June5, 1981 in Bellflower, CA.
