
Payton Jordan Invitational Set for Saturday

The Dons track and field team continues its season in the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitation on Saturday at Stanford, Calif.
On the men's side, senior Jose Madera will make his second appearance of the season in the 10,000 m. Madera last competed in the 10,000 m during the Stanford Invitational, when he finished the race in 29:30.31.
Freshman Mohamed Aziz will comepte in the 3,000 m steeplechase, while Sean Gomes will compete in the 800 m.
In the field events, freshman Adrian Shocks will look to improve on his stellar season in the triple jump. Shocks is the current school record holder in the triple jump. He set the record with a distance of 14.45 m during the Aggie Open.
Robert Parker will compete in the javelin on Saturday. Parker is the current school record holder in that event. He will look to improve on his season best, and current school record throw, of 60.22 m, set during the Bryan Clay Invitational. Also competing in the javelin will be Cameron Farrell.
On the women's side, Elena Burkard will compete in the 5,000 m for the first time since the Stanford Invitational, when she finished the race in 16:09.24. Burkard will try to surpass her personal best of 16:05.84, set during the 2014 season.
Joining Burkard in the 5,000 m will be Jana Soethout, the current school record holder in that event. Soethout last competed in the 5,000 m during the Mt. Sac Invitational on April 16, when she completed the race in 17:02.36. Soethout's current school record is 16:00.51, set during the 2014 season.
Senior Kate Jamboretz will compete in the 1,500 m, and look to improve on her season best of 4:24.92, set during the Johnny Mathis Invitational. Also, Hillary Harris will compete in the 800 m for the first time this season.
Competing in the 3000 m steeplechase will be three-time NCAA finalist and 2014 Don alum Eva Krchova, currently training with Hudson Elite in Colorado.
Head coach Helen Lehman-Winters said: "Payton Jordan- one of the premier track meets in the country-- is intended to provide athletes an opportunity to achieve high quality performances for the NCAA Division I Championships, the USA Outdoor Championships, the World Championships and other international competitions.
