SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco women's soccer team had four of its own earn West Coast Conference All-Academic honors, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
Senior
Sonja Giraud earns first team honors, while
Izzie Lueken,
Desiree Major, and
Autumn Smithers all earned honorable mention accolades.
Giraud, an international business major, holds a 3.54 GPA while leading the Dons in goals (8) and points (19). She earned All-WCC Second Team honors this year and wraps up her career sixth all-time in goals scored at USF. This is the third time she's earned all-academic honors, earning honorable mention honors in her sophomore and junior season.
Junior
Autumn Smithers boasts a 3.21 GPA. The marketing major is one of two Dons who played in all 1,908 minutes this season, while earning All-WCC Honorable Mention honors in her return to the pitch. This is her first time earning all-academic accolades.
Izzie Lueken, a psychology major with a 3.79 GPA, scored a pair of goals for USF this season, including a game-winner in the thrilling 1-0 win over Cal early in the year. Fellow sophomore
Desiree Major is a biology major with a 3.77 GPA. She finished fourth on the team with five points, scoring two goals and an assist, and tallied the game winner in the 2-1 win over BYU on Nov. 2.
The Dons finished the year 8-10-2, and sixth in the WCC with a 4-5 record.
