WSOC | Dons Open WCC Action This Week, Hosting Pepperedine and LMU

THE RUNDOWN
SAN FRANCISCO – The University of San Francisco women's soccer team begins its conference slate of games this weekend, hosting Southern California foes Pepperdine on Friday and Loyola Marymount on Sunday.

The Dons enter this week with a 4-5-2 overall record.  At the friendly confines of Negoesco Stadium, USF is 2-1-2 in 2017. Last weekend, USF went 1-1 with a thrilling 1-0 win over host UC Riverside in double overtime.  They followed that up with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of UC Irvine in the Dons' final non-conference game of the season.

As a team, USF has 11 goals on 134 shots this year, they sport a .470 shots on goal percentage.  Their opponents have scored 20 goals on 192 shots this season and have a .510 shots on goal percentage.

Pepperdine enters this week with an overall record of 6-6-2.  Last week they went 1-0 with a 1-0 win over visiting UC Santa Barbara.  The Pepperdine defense has been stellar this year, giving up just five goals in 10 games and posting five shutouts. The Waves had a 338 minute scoreless streak earlier in the year and the team's 0.48 goals against average ranks 11th in the country and first in the WCC.

Loyola Marymount comes into the Bay Area with a 5-2-3 overall record.  Last week, the Lions went 1-0 with a 1-0 win at home against visiting Oklahoma.  As a team, LMU averages 10.8 shots per contest, while their opponents average 14.1, that hasn't stopped the Lions from outscoring their opponents 13-10 on the year.
