SAN FRANCISCO- The San Francisco Dons baseball team started West Coast Conference play off on the right foot, beating the University of The Pacific Tigers 9-2 on Friday

USF got the things started quickly, scoring two runs in the bottom of the second inning.
Nick Yovetich went 2-for-3 and had two RBI's, hitting a two out double to score
Brady Bate and
Aaron Ping in the second inning. USF would continue its potent offensive afternoon, scoring two runs in the third inning as well.

In the fourth inning, USF extended their lead with
Jack Winkler leading off the inning with a single. After two quick outs and a
Michael Perri walk,
Ross Puskarich came through with an RBI double to make the score 5-0. Then
Riley Helland, who went one-for-three including three RBI's on the day, hit a single to score two, increasing the Dons lead to 7-0. Six of USF's nine runs scored with two outs.

Thomas Ponticelli made the start for USF, and held the Tigers to two runs in seven and two thirds innings, striking out seven and walking one on the day. USF would go on to score two more runs in the fifth and the eighth innings to put their run tally at nine.

In the Eighth inning, the Tigers would make some noise.
Thomas Ponticelli struck out the first batter of the inning, but couldn't finish, after giving up a single and a home run.

Grant Young would come in to pitch. Shutting down the Tigers, holding them to one hit and two walks. The Dons are now 10-7 overall and 1-0 in conference.
