WSOC | Dons Announce 2018 Schedule

SAN FRANCISCO – University of San Francisco women's soccer seventh-year head coach Jim Millinder is pleased to announce the Dons' 2018 schedule.  USF will play a full slate of 20 games, 11 of which will be played at the friendly confines of Negoesco Stadium.  The Dons will also play nine West Coast Conference Games, five of which will be played on home turf.

The Dons' will once again play a challenging non-conference schedule to prepare the team for the ultra-competitive WCC.  On the schedule this year will be four teams that finished in the top-50 in the 2017 RPI, including Stanford who is the defending NCAA National Champion.  USF's non-conference foes posted a combined record of 100-73-28 last season.

USF kicks off the season Friday, August 17 and Sunday, August 19 when they travel to Montana to participate in the Montana Cup hosted by Montana.  The Dons open up the tournament against Drake who finished 13-4-2 last season in the Missouri Valley Conference.  They wrap up the tournament against the tournament hosts on Sunday.  The Grizzlies went 10-7-4 last season in the Big Sky Conference. This is the first time since 1996 that the Dons and Grizzlies will face each other. USF earned a 1-0 win in the only other time these two teams played.

Five days later, USF will take on the defending national champion in Stanford on Friday, August 24th down at The Farm.  USF will make its home debut two days later on Sunday, August 26 against Harvard. The Dons are 1-2 against Harvard all-time, the last time the two teams squared off was in 2014. USF finishes off the month of August with a home contest against Big West foe UC Santa Barbara on the 31st.

The month of September begins with a home contest against New Mexico on Sunday, September 2.  Last season, USF defeated the Lobos 2-1 in the season opener in Albuquerque.  The following weekend, USF heads east to the Sooner State where the Dons will battle Oklahoma on the 7th in Norman, followed by a match against Oklahoma State in Stillwater on the 9th.  Last season, USF defeated Oklahoma 3-1 and tied the then No. 17 ranked Cowgirls 1-1 at Negoesco Stadium.

USF will wrap up its non-conference slate with three-straight home contests, starting with a match against Sacramento State on Friday, Sept. 14.  The Dons follow that up with a game against Hawaii on the 16.  On Friday, September 21 the Dons look to bounce back from a 2017 road defeat at the hands of UC Irvine when the Anteaters come to town in the final non-conference game of the season.

The Dons finish September at home when Santa Clara makes the trip up Highway 101 for a 1:00 p.m. contest.  Last season, USF fell to the Broncos down at Buck Shaw Stadium.

USF opens October on the road with a pair of contests in Southern California.  On Friday, October 5, USF will take on Pepperdine in Malibu.  On Sunday, USF squares off against Loyola Marymount.  Last season, the Dons went 0-2 against their Los Angeles foes.

After a bye on October 12, the Dons will play three-straight home WCC contests.  Pacific comes to town on Sunday, October 14 followed by back-to-back games against Gonzaga and Portland on Friday October 19 and Sunday October 21.  Last season the Dons defeated the Pilots 2-1 in the Rose City for the program's first-ever win over the Pilots.

USF will return to the road for a pair of games against BYU and San Diego.  The Dons will travel to Provo to take on the Cougars on Thursday, October 25 before traveling to San Diego for a game against the Toreros on Sunday October, 28.  USF will wrap up the regular season at home against Saint Mary's on Saturday, November 3rd.  The contest against the Gaels will be senior day and is slated for a 4:30 p.m. start time.
