WHATS THE STORY
• The Dons opened the year 2-0 with back-to-back dominating road wins. USF opened the year with a 2-1 win over Drake and followed that up with a 2-0 win over host Montana.
• The last time the Dons opened the year 2-0 away from Negoesco Stadium was in 2003 when USF took home wins over Rice and Boise State at the Duck Invitational in Eugene.
• In both wins last weekend the Dons struck in rapid fashion. On Friday's win the Dons scored two goals in less than two minutes. In the tournament finale, they scored both their goals less than four minutes apart.
TOMORROW'S GAME
On Friday, the Dons will tangle with the defending national champions and top ranked team in the country in No. 1 Stanford. The Cardinal (1-0-0) kicked off its 2018 campaign last week with a 5-0 win at UC Davis. Michelle Xiao, Tierna Davidson, Alana Cook and Civana Kuhlmann each scored for Stanford. Stanford has won 23 games in a row, a streak dating to Aug. 25, 2017, when the Cardinal suffered a 3-2 loss at No. 8 Florida for its only blemish on the season. Since then, the Cardinal has outscored opponents 85-6.
THE SERIES
Stanford owns a 19-0 advantage in the series. Last year, then No. 2 Stanford defeated the Dons 8-0 in the first match up between the two squads since 2007.
SUNDAY'S GAME
On Sunday Ivy League foe Harvard comes to Negoesco Stadium for an afternoon tilt. The Crimson are looking for their fourth Ivy League title in the last six seasons and seventh in the last 11 years. To that end, Harvard returns 81.3 percent of its scoring from last season, led by 2017 Ivy League Rookie of the Year Murphy Agnew. Sunday's contest will be the first game of the year for the Crimson.
THE SERIES
The Crimson leads the series with San Francisco, 2-1, winning the last meeting in 2014, 1-0. At home, the Dons are 1-1 against the Crimson. The series began on Sep. 23, 1990 with the Dons falling to Harvard 3-1 at Negoesco Stadium.
UP NEXT
The Dons will stay at home next week when they host UC Santa Barbara on Friday, Aug. 31 under the lights at 7:00 p.m. They wrap up the three-game home stand on Sunday, Sep. 2 when New Mexico comes to town. That game is slated for a 2:00 p.m. start time.
